Updates from the Town of Maynard on EEE

The following message is from the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources. Please refer to this link for further information.

I am reaching out to alert you that given the increased levels of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) detected this year from state-wide mosquito surveys, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources announced that an aerial pesticide  application will be taking place. This aimed at reducing mosquito populations to limit the incidence and spread of EEE infection. You can find and read the press release at: https://www.mass.gov/news/state-officials-announce-additional-aerial-spraying-for-eee-in-critical-and-high-risk

This application is scheduled to begin tonight (9/10/19) in Worcester, Middlesex and Norfolk counties. For more information please visit:https://www.mass.gov/guides/aerial-mosquito-control-summer-2019 and https://www.mass.gov/emergency-response-to-mosquito-borne-virus-aerial-spray-map

You are receiving this notice because 333 CMR 14.00 requires that notification be given when pesticides are used on school property.  MDAR has attached an emergency waiver, standard written notification and consumer information bulletin in this email.  You may find the fact sheet for the product at the following website:  https://www.mass.gov/guides/aerial-mosquito-control-summer-2019#-frequently-asked-questions-.  To find out more information about the requirements for schools and pesticide use please visit:https://www.massnrc.org/ipm/

Should you have any further questions please feel free to contact me at: (617) 626-1775.

Sincerely,

Trevor Battle
