At Fowler, we are utilizing curriculum and discussion to increase students’ social awareness and understanding of giving back to their community. In 4th and 5th grade, students participate in Responsive Classroom, which provides an opportunity to share and learn about healthy decision-making and taking care of others. In 6th and 7th grade, students participate daily in their Advisory class, which places value in the relationship between students and teachers. Recently, our 6th and 7th grade students engaged in grade-level Community Meetings to discuss topics that impact their lives. Led by Mr. Fleming, Assistant Principal, and Mrs. Danforth, Guidance Counselor, the students discussed laughter, helping others, and acknowledging life's small moments, among others. In the weeks ahead, students will continue to discuss this topic during Advisory and expand their view on these topics. In addition, they will be starting a gratitude journal to reflect on their own lives.
Last night, the FASC Harmony Choir performed for an almost full house of parents, family members, and friends. Our vocal students, under the direction of Andrea Docheff (Green Meadow Music Specialist), sang holiday favorites with enthusiasm and joy. These talented children showcased their love of singing and featured several extra special soloists. Congratulations to our after-school singers:
