Dear Parents,

Congratulations to our Do Right student of the week....Shataya Bowen, Sofia Clark, Morgan Mylon, Dorothy Okorji, Peyton Thompson, and Keagan Strelzoff.

The Zuzu Acrobats performed in a whole-school assembly on Tuesday.  The students and staff thoroughly enjoyed the show!  All of the students have been asked to do some writing as a way to reflect on the assembly, MLK Day, and the upcoming Black History month.

The following is a thank you letter from a 4th grade classroom:

Dear Zuzu Acrobats,
Thank you so much for visiting Fowler all the way from Kenya.  Our favorite parts of your act were when you brought up our classmates Owen, Justin, Henry, Anna, Nina, and Anne.  It was funny when you kept screaming and you asked us to scream back.  It was really cool when you stacked up the four chairs and did handstands on them.  The final act was the best.

Thanks again,
Your friends from Fowler

Testing Schedule:

We have created a schedule for the spring testing, which will include PARCC for all students. Students in fifth grade will also participate in MCAS.  We are sending the schedule out well in advance, so families can plan accordingly and help us to achieve excellent attendance for testing. This year there is only one testing window, which is a change from the two testing windows in past years.

Additional Information:  While the two week testing window includes a number of testing days, the total number of tests has actually decreased from last year.  The daily testing minutes vary by grade and subject, and range from 60-110 minutes.  Last year, we found that the allotted minutes were far greater than the students required to successfully finish.

While direct instruction continues during the testing window, there is no homework assigned or outside work expectations.  We often utilize extra recess, and other incentives to reward students for their hard work.  We want students to be well-rested and relaxed so they can do their best.  We realize that this amount of testing can cause stress, which is why we work very hard to alleviate anxiety and be supportive of the students.
