Today we say goodbye to Mrs. Fuchs, School Adjustment Counselor, who is retiring after 30+ years of working for the Maynard Public Schools. Mrs. Fuchs has made a difference in the lives of countless students and families with whom she worked tirelessly to provide excellent advice, guidance, and support. Mrs. Fuchs' kindness, dedication, and unwavering commitment will be missed at Fowler. We wish Mrs. Fuchs all the best in her retirement!
Fowler has hired Mrs. Skura to fill the position. Mrs. Skura is an experienced school adjustment counselor who has worked alongside Mrs. Fuchs for the last two weeks to help with the transition into her new role. Mrs. Skura looks forward to meeting all of her students and getting to know the families. Please don't hesitate to connect with Mrs. Skura if you have questions or concerns.
We raised $1000 from McTeacher's Night, which will be fittingly used to support our students. Thank you again to all the staff members who contributed to the event, the students and families who attended, and to McDonald's for the opportunity.
Congratulations to our Do Right students of the week....Kate Carlisle, Kayla DeCapua, Xinnaya Ouelette, Dylan Peavoy, Lula Belle Solomon Rohr, Daniel Terrell.

We have created a schedule for the spring testing, which will include PARCC for all students. Students in fifth grade will also participate in MCAS. We are sending the schedule out well in advance, so families can plan accordingly and help us to achieve excellent attendance for testing. This year there is only one testing window, which is a change from the two testing windows in past years.
Additional Information: While the two week testing window includes a number of testing days, the total number of tests has actually decreased from last year. The daily testing minutes vary by grade and subject, and range from 60-110 minutes. Last year, we found that the allotted minutes were far greater than the students required to successfully finish.
While direct instruction continues during the testing window, there is no homework assigned or outside work expectations. We often utilize extra recess, and other incentives to reward students for their hard work. We want students to be well-rested and relaxed so they can do their best. We realize that this amount of testing can cause stress, which is why we work very hard to alleviate anxiety and be supportive of the students.
