Dear Parents,

Next week PARCC/MCAS testing will begin for our students.  We have a relatively small window in which to conduct the testing, so attendance is very important.  Please help your child prepare by making sure they arrive to school on time, receive a good night of sleep, and have a healthy breakfast.  Students will participate in a short physical activity before the test, can bring a snack to school, and can chew gum or a hard candy during the test.  Teachers will not assign homework or studying during the night before a test.  We want the students to be well-rested and focused.

Please reinforce the message given by teachers and encourage your child to work hard and do their best.  Your child's daily work and practice at school provides the best preparation for the testing.

Once Upon a Crime: The Trial of Goldilocks
Show dates:  Friday, May 6 (7:00 pm) and Saturday, May 7 (7:00 pm)
Directed by Ms. Alannah Gustavson

"Once Upon a Crime: The Trial of Goldilocks" a humorous fairy tale courtroom play packed with familiar storybook characters. Goldilocks is the defendant, on trial for breaking and entering. The plaintiffs are -- you guessed it -- The Three Bears. As their lawyers go toe-to-toe hoping to prove their respective clients' cases, other fairy tale characters are called to testify as witnesses, including Hansel and Gretel, Jack (from the Beanstalk) and Cow, Granny, and even the Big Bad Wolf takes the stand. Is Goldilocks guilty or innocent?

Congratulations to Mrs. Faiella and her Latin Club students!

This past weekend, April 29-May 1, Fowler Latin Club attended the Massachusetts Junior Classical League Convention at Barnstable High School in Hyannis, MA.  It was an action-packed two days, during which the students participated enthusiastically in artistic, athletic, academic, and spirit-oriented activities.  The students received complimentary feedback from the adults at the convention and, just as at Classics Day in December, our chapter was quite well-received.  Fowler placed tenth place out of the seventeen schools attending the convention, and students received awards for various graphic arts projects, costume, English oratory, track events, poetry, academic test results, and performance in the talent show.  As a school, Fowler placed first in the medium-sized school category for spirit.  We are so proud of our sixth graders for their accomplishments!
