This week our seventh grade students and staff visited Nature's Classroom in Becket, Massachusetts. Nature's Classroom connects learning and nature with team-building, collaboration, and fun. Kudos to the students for their respectful and excellent behavior and to the staff members for contributing their time and energy to supporting our students. Our students were the first group (at Nature's Classroom) to simulate travel in covered wagons along the Oregon Trail, which involved thousands of miles of walking, encountering the challenges of lack of food, dehydration, disease, and unexpected meetings with dangerous strangers. Collectively, they all survived the journey.
Reminder about Start of School Time:
Recently, a few parents have asked about the official start time of school. The homeroom bell rings at 7:55, which is when students go to their locker or classroom to get ready for homeroom. Ideally, students arrive before 7:55 so they can go to homeroom, get settled, and not feel rushed.
The next bell is 8:05 and that is the start of homeroom, which lasts until 8:10. If students arrive after 8:05 they would be asked to sign in and would be marked tardy.
The majority of our students arrive between 7:45 and 7:55. Some students arrive even earlier for breakfast, which starts at 7:35.
We have been asked by the state to follow strict guidelines to encourage and support good arrival times and student attendance. We understand that mornings can be very busy for families and we ask your help in getting your children to school on time.
