Dear Families,

We are thrilled that the Fowler Playground is officially open and in use!  We invite families to the Opening Celebration and Family Picnic for Grades 4 and 5, which will be held on September 24th, 5:00-6:30 pm.  We'll supply the music and sports equipment, families should bring their own dinner to enjoy.

Fowler extends our gratitude to the Maynard Community Preservation Committee for supporting and funding the Fowler Playground Project.  A special thanks to Tom Hesbach, CPC, for his role in facilitating the project and to Superintendent Dr. Gerardi, Town Administrator Kevin Sweet, Business Manager Pete DiCicco, Town Engineer Wayne Amico, Facilities Manager Aaron Miklosko, and the CPC members who advocated for the playground.

We appreciate the work of the Fowler Playground Committee who dedicated many hours planning an inclusive, safe, and age-appropriate playground structure, which will be used by Fowler students as well as the Maynard community.  Thank you Colleen Andrade, Lisa James, Laurel Buckley, Pam Leahy, and Joelle Bottasso.

Maynard Public Schools is hosting a book discussion of Amanda Ripley’s Smartest Kids In the World on September 30 from 7:00-8:00 PM at Maynard High School.  Parents are invited to join Jennifer Gaudet, Curriculum Director, and engage in a conversation about the book and the vision for education in Maynard.

Every Kid in a Park: Beginning this week, under President Obama's Every Kid in a Park initiative, fourth-grade students nationwide may visit a website to obtain a pass for free access to all federal lands and waters. The pass is valid for the 2015-16 school year and grants entry for the student and three accompanying adults (or an entire car, for drive-in parks) at more than 2,000 national parks, forests, wildlife refuges, and marine sanctuaries. The website also offers educators and parents activities, trip planning books, safety and packing tips, and other helpful information.

Cyber Halloween

October 31, 2015
Speaker: William Streilein

The Internet is a great place to learn and have fun, but it can also be spooky if you're not careful! In this Halloween-themed session, we'll take students through a cyber "House of Horrors" and teach them how to make it back safely, avoiding the tricks and getting the treats!  Audience members are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes to add to the fun!

Hope to see you there!
