Indoor vs. Outdoor Recess:
We have been very fortunate so far this year with our weather and the decisions we have had to make have been limited compared to most other years. It does seem that we may be in a more typical pattern at this point in the Winter season therefore I feel it is critical to get this information out.
Above 32 degrees F with or without wind chill: Recess should be outdoors.
Between 28 degrees F and 15 degrees F with or without wind chill: Principal discretion.
Below 15 degrees F with or without wind chill: Recess should be held indoors.
We also base our decision on precipitation, wind chill, and whether the sun is shining. We may decide to have an abbreviated recess outside so that students get fresh air before moving inside for the remainder of recess.
Going outside doesn’t always mean free play on our structure and/or field. The following guidelines will be used to determine where a student can play.
Boots- can walk in the snow- structure, field, and basketball hoop area
Full snow gear (snow pants, boots, gloves, etc)-no restrictions
Sneakers- must stay on the plowed basketball area.
All students are expected to have the appropriate winter gear. Minimally students should have a coat (or warm clothing for upper body) and it is highly recommended that they have a hat and gloves.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Today the library is honoring Mr. Mark's 25th year by hosting an event at the library from 4:00 to 7:00 in his honor. If you have time to stop in to share a thank you or a memory please do. Here is a link to the library's notification regarding the event today.
If you can't attend, the library has set up a Padlet site for Mr. Mark. This site resembles an electronic bulletin board where anyone can leave a message of gratitude for Mr. Mark to see. Your message will be public. Here is the link to that site.
Thanks

Fowler uses IXL to support skills in ELA, Math, and this year we added Science and Social Studies. Our goal is 60,000 questions per month, and as of 9/21 we are well ahead of the goal. Our WINN block allows the time, and students are on fire! Great job, Fowler!
